Ulucami Mosque

Ulucami Mosque is the biggest after Sabanci Merkez Mosque and most famous mosque built by the Ramadanids (Ramazanoğulları) Halil Bey in 1507. It still stands strong today. It is famous with its colorful stones and İznik tiles. In the tiles which are made of square and hexagon plaques amazing visitors and with a special technic, the base color is white and turquiese, dark blue and red upon it are used in line with the original colors of era.

Historical Clock Tower

The best spot to start your tour around the city is the Great Clock Tower. As one of the city’s oldest landmarks, the tower was built in 1882 by the Governor of Adana, Abidin Paşa. The construction has started during governship of Ziya Paşa. On the the top of the tower which is renewed with the clock machine brought from Germany In 1925, there is a big bell which is covered with motives and bosses. It is a symbol of modernisation. Located on Ali Münif Street, to the south of Ulucami Mosque built in 1507, the tower measures 32 metres in height. This 32-metre tower is the tallest clock tower in Turkey.

Stone Bridge

Taşköprü, bridging both sides of the city built on the Seyhan River is either a remnant from the Romans or the Hittite Empire in BC 1450s. It is the eldest bridge of the worls which is still in use. It measures 3.10 metres in height and 13 metres in width. It is built from stone and has 21 arches. It underwent a comprehensive restoration in the 17th century. Sultan Ahmed the Third (1713) issued an edict to the Governor of Adana for the restoration of Taşköprü. Sultan Abdülmecid had the bridge repaired in 1847. Only 14 of the original 21 arches remain today after reclamation of Seyhan River. The Bridge was a critical point for the commerce over the years, and now it is a figure which is combining Seyhan and Yüreğir towns. After start of restorations in 2016, it is closed to motor vehicles and used for pedestrians only. And sometimes it is used for special art activitvities.

Yağ Mosque

It is turned to a mosque by Ramazanoglu Halil Bey by making additions to Saint Jacques Church in 1501. Piri Mehmet Paşa, the son of Halil Bey has built minaret in 1525 and madrasah in 1558. Selcuklu architecture is used mostly. It is close to Big Historical Clock Tower in city center.

Sabancı Center Mosque

Today, this mosque has become one of the city’s symbols and the biggest mosque of Middle East and Turkey. It is in the south of Central Park and west of Seyhan River and built in 1998. The main canopy has a 32m diameter. And with its 4 half canopies, 5 canopies, 6 minarets, it has a marvellous look. The capacity is 20K people (28K with the open areas), and it is located in 6600 metre squares. It has the properties of classical Ottoman Architecture.
